舞台音響ってどんな仕事？
ステージ上だけでなく、劇場全体に音を届けるのが仕事です。
舞台上で声を出しているだけでは客席まで聞こえません。
教室で離れた席の生徒が発言した時に、声が小さすぎて聞こえないこと、よくありませんでしたか？
劇場の中で座った場所によって、俳優さんの声が聞こえない、音楽が聞こえないことがあったら楽しむことはできませんよね？
広い空間で音を流すのは難しいんです！
劇場のどこに座っていても、きちんと全員に同じ音が届くようにするのが音響の仕事です。
大きなコンサートホールから、小さな劇場まで、ありとあらゆる場所で音を届けます。
音楽そのものを作曲したり演奏したりするのではなく、使用するマイクの種類や設置場所を決めたり、収録時の音のバランスを調整したりするのが音響スタッフの仕事です。
音響の中でも、効果音を作ったり、演劇の内容に合わせて選曲したり、作曲を発注したりする全体の流れを演出家などと決めるプランナーと、本番や稽古などで実際に音を出すミキサーのオペレーター、劇場で実際に客席に届く空間の音の日々を管理、調整をするステージスタッフなど、役割分担がありチームで動きます。
たくさんの機材を使いながら音の響きを作り上げていく技術職なので、工学的な知識と音楽的なセンスの両方が求められます。
舞台音響のやりがいや楽しさって？
音や音が持つ力を感じらる時にやりがいを感じます。
演出家が出したい音を作り出せた時、それが舞台の演出にピッタリと合って、お客様に感動を届けられたと感じた時に喜びを感じます。
一つの作品を作り上げることに達成感を感じます。
音響の出来が作品の出来を左右する要因の一つですので、プレッシャーも責任も大きい代わりに、無事に終わった時の達成感は大きいです。
本番中客席にいることがほとんどなので、最後にお客様が満足して帰る姿を見ることができた時が一番嬉しいです。
舞台音響になるためにはどうすればいいの？
音響さんはたくさんの機材を操作し、音を聞き分けます。
その為には、専門知識とセンスが問われます。
また、絶対的に必要なものは「耳の良さ」です。
その為になりたい人は、主に専門学校や大学で音響技術を学ぶ人が多いです。
卒業するまでに、イベントの手伝いなど、実際音響をしている人の手伝いや音響会社でアルバイトをして経験と知識をつけていきます。
舞台音響に向いているのはどんな人？
好きなことに関して知識を得ることが好きな人。
この場合音響が好きで、知識を得ることが苦ではない人だと思います。
また、スピーカーなど重い機材を運んだりするので、体力に自信がある方がいいと思います。
あとは、コミュニケーションが好きな人です。
演劇はたくさんのスタッフが関わって作り出すものなので、演出家が望む音を作ったり、出したりすることや、お客様が求めているものを想像し、その音が出せることが求められます。
